Quarter 1 Journey: The Starting Point

The first quarter of the school year felt like a whirlwind, a journey that tested our limits, pushed us to face countless obstacles, and challenged our resilience. Yet, through it all, we managed to come out stronger, not just as individuals, but as a united group—closer than we ever thought possible. This journey, which I like to call our "Roller Coaster Ride," was a mix of chaos and joy, stress and triumph, all intertwined by one powerful element: our bond.

From the very start, the pressure was undeniable. We faced what felt like an endless stack of schoolwork, assignments, projects, and exams. The weight of it all seemed overwhelming, but rather than succumbing to the stress, we found ways to support one another. We were in the trenches together—sharing the load, offering encouragement, and finding moments to laugh in the midst of the chaos. At times, it felt like we were caught in the most intense loops of the roller coaster. The schoolwork piled up relentlessly, each task more daunting than the last. There were sleepless nights spent trying to meet deadlines, moments of frustration when nothing seemed to go right, and the feeling of being stuck at the highest peak, unsure of when the next challenge would come crashing down.

Yet, even during these challenging moments, we leaned on each other. What kept us going was the simple fact that we were not alone. In those moments of stress, we found comfort in the smallest gestures: a shared study session, an inside joke to lighten the mood, or just someone to listen when the weight became too much. These small acts of kindness, these moments of support, created an unbreakable thread that wove us together. And just like the ups and downs of a roller coaster, there were also moments of pure exhilaration. We celebrated each victory—big or small—with infectious excitement. Whether it was finishing a challenging assignment, acing a test, or just surviving a particularly grueling week, we made sure to acknowledge our wins and remind each other that we were capable of more than we sometimes believed. The laughter that echoed through our group became the soundtrack to our journey. Despite the stress, we found reasons to smile. We would joke about how we managed to finish a project at the last minute, laugh at the ridiculousness of some of the situations we found ourselves in, and, at times, simply marvel at how far we had come. These moments of joy were like the bright flashes of light during the ride—moments that made it all worth it. As the weeks passed, something remarkable began to happen. We grew closer. The bond we shared strengthened, not just because of the academic hurdles we overcame together, but because of the emotional support we offered each other. We celebrated not just our academic wins, but also the personal growth that came with facing challenges head-on. We began to understand each other better, not just as classmates, but as friends. Looking back, it's clear that the first quarter wasn’t just about surviving—it was about thriving together.

The roller coaster ride wasn't always smooth, but the collective spirit of our group helped us navigate the toughest of twists and turns. We learned to find strength in each other and realized that even in the hardest moments, we could still find reasons to smile. It wasn’t the schoolwork or the deadlines that defined our journey—it was the connection we formed and the way we supported each other along the way. As we move forward into the next quarter, I carry with me the lessons from this experience. I now know that no matter how steep the climb or how sharp the drop, as long as we stick together, we can face anything that comes our way.

And as we continue on this roller coaster ride of school, I have no doubt that our bond will only grow stronger, our smiles will get brighter, and we will keep riding through every twist and turn with the same unwavering spirit.

Let’s Clean-Up and Blog! – A Step Toward a Cleaner and Safer Tomorrow

September is a special month that reminds us of our responsibility to protect the environment. Declared as National Clean-Up Month through Proclamation No. 244, and with World Clean and Green Week observed from September 17 to 23, this time of year encourages all of us—especially the youth—to actively participate in caring for our planet. As the Vice President of the MAPEH Club in our school, I believe that our regular clean-up drive every Friday is not just a task, but a meaningful step toward creating a safer and healthier environment.

The theme "Let’s Clean-Up and Blog!" encourages us to share our experiences in environmental protection, not just through action but also through storytelling. Every time we pick up trash, sweep the school grounds, or properly segregate waste, we are taking part in a bigger mission—to prevent disasters and promote sustainability. We know that natural disasters like floods are made worse by clogged drainage and polluted waterways. When we clean our surroundings, we help reduce these risks and show others that even small actions can have a big impact.

Leading this initiative as a student leader has taught me the value of teamwork, discipline, and environmental responsibility. I’ve seen how our efforts inspire others to join in, turning a simple activity into a movement within our school community. It is not always easy, but the results—cleaner hallways, greener spaces, and a stronger sense of unity—make it all worthwhile.

In line with the Clean and Green Campaign, our role as students goes beyond just cleaning. We must also become advocates for change. We must encourage our classmates, friends, and families to live an environmentally conscious lifestyle. Whether it’s reducing plastic use, recycling, or planting trees, every effort counts. By doing so, we not only help the environment today but also ensure that future generations will have a better world to live in.

In conclusion, National Clean-Up Month is more than a calendar event—it is a call to action. Through our weekly clean-up drives and by sharing our stories, we are shaping a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future. As part of the MAPEH Club, I am proud to be at the forefront of this movement, and I hope more students will join us in taking care of the Earth—our only home. πŸ’š

"From a Dreamer to the Nation’s Leader: A Student’s Voice for a Better Tomorrow"

Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr

President of the Republic of the Philippines

MalacaΓ±ang Palace

Manila, Philippines

Dear Mr. President,

Good day po!

My name is Jazmine P. Cantorna, a proud Grade 10 student of Ilocos Sur National High School. I’m writing this letter to express my appreciation, concerns, and simple hopes as a young Filipino student who is dreaming of a brighter future for myself, my fellow youth, and our country.

First of all, thank you for all the efforts and programs you have implemented during your term. I truly appreciate how you prioritize development in the areas of education, agriculture, and digitalization. Your support for improved facilities, internet access in public schools, and more learning opportunities shows us students that we are not forgotten. Thank you also for pushing projects that support farmers and fisherfolk—many of us come from families who rely on farming, and these efforts help give them a more stable livelihood. We can see the roads being improved and more investments coming in, and as a student from the province, it makes me feel hopeful that development is reaching even us.

As someone who loves learning and dreams of becoming a flight attendant, or maybe even a psychologist or nurse one day, your support for quality education means so much. I want to serve this country in my own way someday, and that starts with having access to proper education, resources, and support.

However, I also want to respectfully share some of the concerns we face in our community. One of the biggest problems I see is poverty. Many students I know go to school without enough food, transportation money, or school supplies. Some of them even stop attending school because their families simply cannot afford it. I hope your administration can further strengthen scholarship programs, expand feeding initiatives, and support schools in remote areas, especially here in the provinces.

Another concern that I hope can be addressed is mental health awareness and services in schools. A lot of young people today struggle with stress, anxiety, and depression, but there is still a lack of guidance counselors and mental health support in many public schools. If we want students to succeed, we must also take care of their emotional and mental well-being.

I also hope there will be stronger action regarding climate change and environmental protection. As a student, I get scared seeing how floods, heat, and other disasters are becoming more common. I dream of a cleaner, greener Philippines, and I believe that through stricter policies, awareness programs, and proper waste management, we can protect our environment for the next generations.

I know that leading a country is never easy, and I admire the way you continue to face the challenges that come with your position. But I believe that by listening to the voices of ordinary citizens, especially the youth, we can build a better Philippines together. We, the young generation, are ready to learn, serve, and act—but we also need guidance and support from our leaders.

Thank you again, Mr. President, for your service to our country. Please continue to prioritize education, healthcare, the environment, and the basic needs of every Filipino. May God bless you with wisdom, strength, and compassion in all your decisions.

I may just be one student writing to you today, but I represent many others who are quietly hoping and praying for a better tomorrow.

With hope and respect,

Jazmine P. Cantorna

From NutriJingles to Food Festivals: Sa Kalusugan Dapat Lumaban!

August is Nutrition Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and food security for all. This year's theme, "Food at Nutrition Security Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain Karapatan Natin!" emphasizes the need to prioritize access to nutritious food as a fundamental right. As a participant in various activities during this celebration, I had the opportunity to contribute to this cause and learn more about the significance of nutrition in our lives.

I actively participated in several activities that promoted nutrition and food security. One of the highlights was joining the NutriJingle contest, where our team represented both Martinelli and Markov sections. We showcased our creativity and knowledge about nutrition through music and lyrics. We were very grateful and proud when we won the contest! It was a special moment for all of us, and we even got to take pictures with our assistant principal, Sir Raymond Florendo, which made the experience more memorable.

NUTRI-JINGLE CHAMPIONS πŸ˜—πŸ’ͺ

With our Asst. Principal
In addition to the NutriJingle, we also participated in the Salad Making contest. I teamed up with Shane Gorospe and Neil Orodio. Although we didn’t place in the contest, we truly enjoyed the experience and loved applying our passion for cooking with love and care. It was a meaningful way to celebrate healthy eating, and we were happy to receive a certificate of participation as a recognition of our efforts.

The journey leading up to these contests was full of fun and learning. With the help and encouragement of my teammates and mentors, we practiced together and supported each other every step of the way. Our teamwork made the whole experience enjoyable and rewarding. Aside from these contests, our section, Martinelli, also participated in the Food Festival, where we sold nutritious foods and promoted healthy eating habits. We also joined the NutriSalas contest, which tested our understanding of nutrition concepts and practices. These activities allowed me to connect with others who share the same passion and helped deepen my appreciation of the importance of nutrition in our daily lives.

Celebrating Nutrition Month is crucial in promoting awareness about the significance of nutrition and food security. It reminds us that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right that should be prioritized. By observing this month, we can educate ourselves and others about the importance of healthy eating habits, proper nutrition, and sustainable food systems. Moreover, it encourages us to take action and make conscious choices about the food we eat, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more food-secure community. Through this celebration, we can work together to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food and enjoys optimal health and well-being.

My Existence As A Young Lady

Hi. I'm gladly here to share and introduce myself. Who am I and what are my experiences throughout my 15 years of existence?

I'm Jazmine Pascual Cantorna, 15 years old from Taleb Bantay, Ilocos Sur. I was born on April 08, 2010. As a young lady who always wants to do everything and be everything, I am also someone who constantly wonders how to truly become "someone." I'm just an ordinary person—I'm not a genius, but I'm also not clueless. I'm friendly, but I only hang out and show the real me to people who are close to my heart. I like staying at home, but I see myself more happy when I’m not at home—because there’s a person I call home. Just being in his presence makes me feel full and somehow heals something deep inside me. I'm a funny person too; I enjoy making people laugh with my silly jokes and watching them smile, even on the worst days.

Me now πŸ’…

3 years old me 😌

Dwayne & I πŸ’žπŸ˜Ό

I have a lover. We've been together for more than a year now. Some may say we’re too young to understand love, but I know in my heart that what we have is real. He’s not just someone I love—he’s my
best friend, my safe place, and the one who’s always there when life gets too heavy. When I feel like giving up, he reminds me of my worth. He’s my backup when I feel like the world is against me. Even if we’re still kids, I genuinely hope we last. We want to face our future together, hand in hand, growing and learning with each other. We're choosing to treat our relationship in a positive, healthy way—with respect, understanding, and dreams that we can both work on together.
Fam ❤

I'm the eldest of five siblings. As their ate, I always got their back through anything. I am the daughter of Jennylyn Cantorna and Jayrex Cantorna, two of the strongest and most loving people I know. My mom, Jennylyn, is a woman full of quiet strength—she loves us deeply and works hard, even when she’s tired, just to make sure we’re okay. My dad, Jayrex, is the kind of father who may not always show it with words, but expresses his love through his efforts, sacrifices, and presence. Together, they have shaped the kind of person I’m becoming. I admire them so much for everything they do—for the love, guidance, and care they give our family. I carry their sacrifices in my heart every day and do my best to make them proud. I may not always say how I feel, but I love them more than words can ever explain. I’m also the daughter who carries all the silent battles and the weight of pain, but suffers in silence. Even when no one notices, I still push forward—because I want to be strong not just for me, but for those who depend on me.

One of my biggest dreams is to become a flight attendant. I want to travel the world, meet new people, and explore different cultures. One of the places I dream of visiting is Dubai—a city that inspires me not just with its beauty, but especially with its bright, breathtaking city lights. I’ve always been drawn to city lights—they make me feel alive, inspired, and full of hope. I want to chase the skies and see the world with my own eyes. But if I’m being honest, I’m still not completely sure. I’m young, and I know my dreams might change as I grow older. Sometimes, I also imagine myself becoming a psychologist, helping people understand themselves and heal from what they’re going through. Other times, I consider being a nurse, caring for people and saving lives in my own way. My mind is open, and my heart is willing. I know that whatever path I take, it will depend on what the future holds for me. What matters is that I choose something that brings me purpose, passion, and peace.

Sometimes I wonder what the future holds. Will I reach all my dreams? Will I be able to give my family the life they deserve? I don’t have all the answers yet, but I do know that I want a bright future. I want to succeed, to grow, and to become someone I’ll be proud of. I want to prove that even someone like me—with my flaws, fears, and quiet strength—can make something meaningful out of life.

As a young lady living in a world full of challenges, I’ve learned that believing in yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do. I may not be perfect, and I may not always get things right, but I will never stop trying. Because I have dreams, I have people I love, and I have faith that things will fall into place someday.

So, this is my existence as a young lady. Not always easy, not always perfect—but real, growing, and full of hope. I’m still becoming the woman I want to be. And one day, when I look back at this moment in my life, I’ll be proud that I never gave up on myself, on love, and on the future I’ve always dreamed of. I know that life will throw obstacles at me—moments when I’ll feel lost, tired, or unsure—but I also know that I have the heart to keep going. I will fall, but I will rise. I will cry, but I will also smile again.

I may be young, but I have big dreams and a bigger heart. I believe that every step I take today, no matter how small, is a step toward the future I want. I will cherish every lesson, every person, every experience—because all of it will shape the woman I’m meant to be. And I promise myself this: I will never let go of my worth, my goals, and the people who truly love me. This is just the beginning of my story. And I’m excited to see what comes next.
